With the hype train in full effect for Blizzcon 2015 heading through the station before the event itself, Blizzard didn’t disappoint with a slew of great announcements in their opening presentation. Heroes of the Storm was one of the first to hit the stage, with more than a few exciting reveals.
Early in 2016 the MOBA “Brawler” will have a new game mode introduced to the rotation; Arena. In a fun trailer reveal (below), Blizzard showed off just how ambitious they are with the MOBA space and how much they’re willing to carve their own path. Arena will feature random teams built on both sides, and as the trailer shows, yes it is possible to have five of the same character on a team! There will also be a best two-out-of-three type goal as each team will have to take out a Core in two different arena settings, with each game being shorter than the current average.

On top of that, three new characters were announced for HotS. Cho’gall, Lunara, and Greymane will all enter the Nexus, with Ch0’gall really changing up the formula as he/they will be controlled by two different people. In the trailer below you can see exactly what Blizzard means with this explanation:
Cho’gall is a unique two-headed Hero for two players. Each head is controlled by a single player and has its own set of abilities. The Cho head controls Cho’gall’s movement; wherever Cho goes, Gall follows.

The news doesn’t stop there, though. Heroes of the Storm will also see a new Towers of Doom battleground, which is still in development. For those excited enough to pre-order or purchase a special edition Overwatch bundle, you’ll get Tracer (most likely an Assassin hero) as a new playable hero.
More is sure to come as Blizzcon continues. If you have a Virtual Ticket, tune in for the weekend and learn more and more about all things HotS!
