Note: The following figures are reported from Box Office Mojo.

This fallโ€™s box office has been a little slow for most of October, with the exception of strong showings from The Martian, Goosebumps, and Hotel Transylvania 2. However, the next installment in the James Bond series, Spectre, helps breathe some much-needed life into the box office, with a strong $73 million domestic cume.

The 24th Bond film came in 1st, with The Peanuts Movie coming in 2nd, grossing $45 million. However, both films could still wind up a financial failure. Spectre has a massive production budget of $245 million, and has already earned $296 million worldwide, but Sony has to be looking at an overall gross of upwards of $650 million to deem it a success. Meanwhile, The Peanuts cost $99 million, and a $49 million opening weekend cume may just be a bit of good luck.

Coming in 3rd is The Martian, with $9.3 million, followed by Goosebumps, Bridge of Spies, and Hotel Transylvania 2. None of these films earned more than $10 million, so it looks like their prolonged, albeit circumstantial, dominance at the box office charts has come to an end.

Spotlight, which came out this weekend in 5 theaters, earned a solid estimated $302,000. The film has received glowing reviews so far and looks to be a major player at the Oscars this year.

Finally, Steve Jobs still has failed to grab or attract audiences, earning a measly $823,000.

See the full breakdown of this weekendโ€™s domestic box office estimates below.

  1. Spectre: $73 million
  2. The Peanuts Movie: $45 million
  3. The Martian: $9.3 million
  4. Goosebumps: $6.9 million
  5. Bridge of Spies: $6 million
  6. Hotel Transylvania 2: $3.5 million
  7. Burnt: $3 million
  8. The Last Witch Hunter: $2.6 million
  9. The Intern: $1.8 million
  10. Paranormal Activity- The Ghost Dimension: $1.65 million
