Hitman 3, everyone’s favorite stealth espionage shooter from the team at IO Interactive, has announced a roadmap for content for May alongside an unfortunate delay for the highly-anticipated Freelancer mode. The news was revealed through a brand new blog post which you can find over on the team’s official site.

To get the elephant out of the room, the new Hitman 3 Freelancer mode has been delayed to the latter half of 2022 rather than earlier in the year. The team had the following to say regarding the reason for the delay and what they’re doing with that extra time in the oven:

In short, this mode is quite expansive and involving. It’s built for players that want to dive deeper into what a Hitman game can be and for that reason, we’ve decided to give it more time.

The truth is that it’s a luxurious decision for us to make. HITMAN 3 has been a success and with that, we’re able to give our team that extra time to tighten the bolts and make sure that the mode is as close to our ambitions as possible. We want it to land well and be a platform for Hitman players to enjoy this game world for a long period of time.”

Hitman 3 Year Two May Roadmap

As for what you can expect in May, the roadmap gives us much of the similar sort of content drops we’ve grown accustomed to since Hitman 3’s release. Following today’s debut of a new Featured contract, you can expect reactivated Elusive Targets in the form of The Fugitive and The Bookkeeper for Hitman 1 GOTY Pass owners. You can also expect two rather hilarious Featured Contracts on both May 12 and May 19. After that, some mini-events like the Berlin Egg Hunt and Elusive Target Arcade update on May 24. Also coming that date though is a brand new game update, which according to IO Interactive, includes “fresh new content over the course of the next month”. Rounding off the month is a new Elusive Target, known merely as the Iconoclast, stretching from May 27 to June 6.

That isn’t all though! While the delay to Freelancer mode is a shame, the team has moved up the release date for the new Rocky map from later this year to July 2022. The new map will help to bridge story gaps created between the releases of Hitman 2 and Hitman 3. They even offered a sneak peek at the Ambrose Island map, which you can find below.

Hitman 3 Ambrose Island

For now, I’d love to hear your thoughts. How do you feel regarding the Hitman 3 May roadmap? Are you excited about all the Ambrose Island map will offer in July? Let me know!
