This Grunt’s got some ‘ghosty goos’ in their team.

This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

Of all the intro hints that Team Rocket Grunts give us in Pokemon Go, the “Ke…ke…ke…ke…ke…ke!” definitely makes the least sense. When I read “Get ready to be shocked,” I know the Grunt’s ready to whip out their Electric-type team, meaning I better have my Ground-type counters ready. Likewise, “Normal doesn’t mean weak” is just blatantly obvious, and Trainers should have no issue understanding that it’s time to get out their Fighting types. On the other hand, what in the world does the bizarre “Ke ke ke ke” mean in Pokemon Go, and how can you defeat the Grunt?

[Updated on April 2 – The Grunt’s lineup is now up to date, and the images have been replaced.]

“Ke…ke…ke…ke…ke…ke!” Lineup & Best Counters in Pokemon Go

If you feel creeped out by the “Ke ke ke ke” Grunt in Pokemon Go, you’re actually on the right track, as creepy Ghost-type Pokemon are what you’ll be facing. While Ghost monsters are weak to Ghost Moves, I recommend you take advantage of this Pokemon type’s other weakness — Dark. After all, letting your opponent get Super Effective strikes on you is pretty pointless, even if your Ghost-type Pokemon’s attacks are doing the same. That said, check out the lineup for “Ke…ke…ke…ke…ke…ke!” in Pokemon Go in the table below:

Round 1Round 2Round 3
GolettBanetteGengar
MisdreavusGolettAlolan Marowak
DrifloonDusclopsFroslass

Note that the “Rounds” or phases above are randomized, so don’t get confused about whether Grengar will come after Banette or Froslass will come after Dusclops. The best Dark-type counters for “Ke ke ke ke” in Pokemon Go are Weavile, Hydreigon, and Tyranitar. If you have them, Darkrai and Yveltal are the best rare Legendaries for the fight. Houndoom and Honchkrow are decent picks, too, if they’ve learned Dark-type Movesets.

Once you’ve taken this Grunt down, you’ll be able to bag Shadow Golett, Shadow Drifloon, or Shadow Misdreavus for your Storage.
