In recent news, another reboot is in the works, this time in the form of a TV series. Universal Cable Productions and Blumhouse Productions are developing a show based on the 1990 film Tremors. This TV series will bring back an original star, Kevin Bacon, who will not only be appearing as his original character, Valentine Mckee but will also serve as an executive producer.
The 1990 film Tremors spawned four direct to video sequels as well as a TV series that aired back in 2003. The movie became a cult classic with a blend of humor and horror as the fictional town of Perfection Nevada was terrorized by giant killer worms eventually called Graboids. This new series will return to the same fictional town of perfection and aside from Kevin Bacon, no announcement has been made on other members of the original cast returning.
In a recent interview, Kevin Bacon made some comments about the film Tremors and reprising his role as the character. “I’d love to do something else with Tremors and revisit the character 25 years later. Part of what’s great about that movie is there are next to no digital effects. The monsters are done with puppetry, and it’s still off, funny and scary – it’s a cool accomplishment.”
The project is currently being shopped around by the developers and “multiple bidders” are reportedly interested. Andrew Miller is currently set to write the script.
