DC Comics announces details on the upcoming Dark Crisis special one-shot: Dark Crisis: War Zone #1. According to CBR, the publisher revealed that the book focuses on the “better halves” of Barry Allen and Wally West’s Flashes. That’s right, Iris West and Linda Park take center stage in the special issue that shows their point-of-view during the crisis. The first one-shot comes from creators Jeremy Adams and Stephanie Williams.
What Else Do We Know About This Dark Crisis Special?
It is a tumultuous time in the DC Universe. The Justice League is dead, and Pariah is the new servant of the Great Darkness. With the heroes down for the count, the villains of the DC Universe are ready to strike. Dubbed the Dark Crisis On Infinite Earths event, the remaining heroes of DC are in for the fight of their lives.
However, with such big action occurring worldwide with the heroes, how are the families of those left behind dealing with all of this? Here is where the Dark Crisis special comes in. This one-shot ties directly into the Dark Crisis On Infinite Earths event. It is dubbed a more “ground-level” perspective of the DC Universe as the current event wreaks havoc. This first issue focuses on Linda Park and Iris West. Dark Crisis: War Zone #1 shows how the two Speedster’s wives saw first-hand the destruction and chaos of Pariah’s attack.
Why Focus on These Two Characters?
It makes sense that to get a more “grounded” perspective, Adams and Williams would utilize Linda and Iris. The Flash Family, as it is lovingly referred to, is one of the tightest and closest in the DC Universe. The Flashes of the world survived so much, primarily due to the love and support system waiting for them at home. These two are a perfect choice to kick off a more personal look at one of DC’s biggest events. More details on subsequent issues and creators are coming soon.
Dark Crisis: War Zone #1 releases on December 6.
