The zombie universe of The Walking Dead will expand with a Daryl Dixon spinoff. CCO for the franchise Scott M. Gimple announced on the Talking Dead: The Walking Dead Universe Preview 2022 special that the series is setting sails for France, seeing one of the original characters from the first season and one of the biggest fan favorites meet survivors and walkers overseas.
Originally, The Walking Dead spinoff saw Daryl Dixon with Carol as a pair. The two had a close relationship throughout the original series, so it would have been a pleasure for fans to get a series centered on the two. Norman Reedus’ costar Melissa McBride left the show, which revealed the European setting when AMC put out a statement about her departure being due to it not being “logistically untenable” for the actress. Showrunner Angela Kang also left the series, with David Zabel taking over her position. Now, we will only have Reedus to lead the show in France.
The Walking Dead Daryl Dixon spinoff will be set in France
While France is the only solid thing we have to expect for The Walking Dead Daryl Dixon spinoff, which still has no confirmed title, we have had a tease for what’s to come. Spinoff World Beyond teased variant walkers, and with the titled character going to a new location, he will be meeting some of these new kinds of undead.
While the original series is on its way out the door, plenty of spinoffs are in the works. We will get more Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) in the future. Right now, Isle of the Dead is filming the spinoff with Maggie (Lauren Cohen) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) that will be set in New York.
The last eight episodes of The Walking Dead will premiere on October 2. We will see what France holds for Daryl Dixon in 2023.
