Scizor is a Bug and Steel-type Pokemon in Pokemon GO. Evolving from Scyther using 50 candy and metal coat, Scizor is a decent choice if you’re looking for some solid damage. Even though Scizor is resistant to a sizable nine different types, it still has one notable weakness that is certainly worth knowing about. This guide will provide information on Scizor’s weakness in Pokemon GO.
What is Scizor’s Weakness in Pokemon GO?
In Pokemon GO, Scizor is weak to Fire-type moves. Fire-type Pokemon deal 256% increased damage to Scizor, making it, by far, its greatest weakness. The following are some examples of Fire-type Pokemon and movesets that counter Scizor in Pokemon GO:
- Reshiram: Fire Fang and Overheat
- Chandelure: Fire Spin or Incinerate and Overheat
- Emboar: Ember and Blast Burn
- Heatran: Fire Spin and Flamethrower
- Moltres: Fire Spin and Overheat
- Flareon: Fire Spin and Flamethrower or Overheat
Nine different types are also ineffective against Scizor. While most of these only inflict 63% of their regular damage, two others deal only 39% of their usual damage. Scizor is effective against the following types in Pokemon GO:
- Normal (63%)
- Bug (63%)
- Steel (63%)
- Psychic (63%)
- Ice (63%)
- Dragon (63%)
- Fairy (63%)
- Poison (39%)
- Grass (39%)
If you plan to tackle the Bug Out Mega Scizor raids, prioritize using Fire-type Pokemon! In addition to the six Pokemon listed above, Mega evolved ones such as Charizard are fantastic alternatives if you have them. Otherwise, stick with Fire types as much as possible while avoiding using Pokemon with the above nine types. If you absolutely must resort to using an ineffective Pokemon against Scizor, try to avoid Poison and Grass at all costs.
Similarly, if you’re using Scizor during a fight, swap the Pokemon out once you encounter a Fire-type! If you’re facing a Fire-type Pokemon, they can easily wipe out your Scizor due to its relatively low defense.
