Fortnite: How to fix Xbox and Cloud Gaming Login Issues
This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

Playing on a console or through a cloud streaming service should have made playing your favorite games anywhere, anytime, as smooth as possible. However, since they heavily rely on the internet these days, connectivity or server-related trouble will sometimes happen, and there is little you can do to stop it. For example, Fortnite players on Xbox might have trouble logging into and running the game through Microsoft services when there are connectivity problems. Here’s what Epic Games officially has to say about the Xbox consoles and Xbox Cloud Gaming login issues in Fortnite, as well as how you can fix it yourself.

Both Epic Games support page and the official @FortniteStatus social media account have acknowledged an issue surrounding account login for Xbox consoles and Xbox Cloud Gaming for Fortnite. The support page mentioned that restarting your game and switching to a wired connection via ethernet cable should be able to bypass the problem.

We are aware that some Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S players are currently having issues logging into Fortnite. We are working on a fix, but in the meantime please close out of and relaunch Fortnite, and make sure you have downloaded the latest update.

As a temporary workaround, we’ve found being connected to the network via wired Ethernet and not over wifi can bypass this issue.

However, about three hours later, @FortniteStatus confirmed that the developer team has managed to fix the problem and that players should be able to login into their Xbox consoles or Xbox Cloud Gaming accounts as easily as before again. Nevertheless, if the issue arises again, you should try restarting the game and using a wired connection next time.

If you encounter another issue, don’t forget to check out Fortnite‘s official server update Twitter account @FortniteStatus or head over to the official Epic Games Public Status page, which lists all Epic Games-related server statuses, including but not limited to Epic Store, Fortnite, Fall Guys, and Rocket League.
