Sony Computer Entertainment has announced that the company has now sold over 35.9 million PlayStation 4 units worldwide.
The numbers released by Sony include the sales data from the 2015 holiday season. During this time, Sony sold more than 5.7 million units. This wasn’t the only accolade for the company during this time either. A total of 35 million units of PlayStation software was sold in retail stores worldwide and through digital downloads on the PlayStation Store. These numbers are impressive to say the least.
“We are absolutely delighted that so many customers have selected PS4 as the best place to play throughout this holiday season and that the PS4 community is growing more than ever,” said Andrew House, President and Global CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. “We remain steadfast in our commitment to deliver innovative entertainment experiences, and look forward to bringing an unprecedented games portfolio from third-party developers and publishers and SCE Worldwide Studios, including Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, New Hot Shots Golf (working title) and The Last Guardian, this coming year.”
In addition to the sales numbers, 60% more users subscribed to Playstation Plus in 2015 as compared to the numbers in 2014. Needless to say, that Sony came out of 2015 with their heads held high. The flagship game console for the company is doing pretty well for itself.
