Many folks who play Dungeons and Dragons love to use the basic tool set that are the rules and figures presented in the games handbooks to craft their own epic adventure. Now Wizards of the Coast, the company responsible for publishing the base materials behind Dungeons and Dragons has introduced a way to help you get paid for all your hard work behind the DM’s screen; it is called the Dungeon Masters Guild.
The Dungeon Masters Guild is a partnership between Wizards and OneBookShelf (a company that specializes in operating download marketplaces and on demand printing presses) designed to aid and reward the creative Dungeon Master and content designer with profit.
Once you have created something you can upload it to the Dungeon Masters Guild site and ask whatever price you like for it. After someone purchases a copy of your work you receive half the profit with Wizards and OneBookShelf splitting the other half. Currently, the Dungeon Masters Guild is only accepting submissions for The Forgotten Realms universe, devised for use with the 5th edition of Dungeons and Dragons.
While there is no official confirmation for this it seems like the next logical step would be to allow for the submission of materials for other universes if the initial results from this venture prove productive. Only time will tell.
