While Pokémon Scarlet and Violet offer a host of new exclusive pocket monsters to discover, Eevee is considered one of the top fan favorites of any Pokémon, below Pikachu. Of course, all of Eevee’s evolutions are available in Scarlet and Violet as well for Trainers to collect. However, catching Eevee is the primary method of unlocking these other elemental variations. Once players have completed the tutorial portion of the main campaign and are free to explore the open world, there is a specific location where they should travel to first to get their Eevee.

Unlike the small Bug-type Scatterbug, which can be found in the tutorial area near where players begin their journey, Eevee’s first location is west of Mesgoza in Cortondo (West). There are two other locations on the map where Eevee can spawn, but Trainers will likely not travel to these areas until later on.

After arriving at Cortondo, players will need to search the areas north and southwest of the town’s fast travel point to encounter Eevee in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. According to the in-game description, Eevee can be found near towns and cities but is “rarely seen,” meaning the spawn rate for this particular pocket monster is notably lower than most common Pokémon in the area. Of course, it is possible to visit the location multiple times until Eevee’s icon pops up on the minimap, after which the search can begin. However, this can be quite time-consuming when there are so many other pocket monsters to catch in the vast open world of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Fortunately, the YouTube channel Arekkz Gaming has suggested an excellent method of significantly increasing one’s chance of encountering a Wild Eevee in Cortondo. If players prepare and eat an easy-to-cook meal known as the Ham Sandwich, their Trainer will receive a buff that increases the Encounter Rate of Normal-type Pokémon, including Eevee. Accordingly, after eating this meal, begin exploring the nearby fields of Cortondo, and players will eventually find their first Eevee. According to Polygon, Trainers can also encounter Eevee on the road leading to the Pokémon League and South Province (Area Two) on the northern side of the world map.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are available on the Nintendo Switch.
