How do Moon Balls Work in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet How Moon Balls Work and How to get them

Introduced back in the 2nd Generation, Moon Balls work with Pokémon, who evolve with a Moon Stone.

As to how Moon Balls work in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, they increase the chance of catching those types of Pokémon. More specifically, a Moon Ball has a catch rate of x4 for Pokémon who evolve with a Moon Stone.

For now, Jigglypuff is the only Pokémon in the game that requires a Moon Stone to evolve. So, Moon Balls will only work with Jigglypuff. If you don’t have one or wish to add more to your lineup, then getting Moon Balls is important.

How to get Moon Balls in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Many Poké Balls are available at a Delibird Presents shop. Beyond the regular Poké Ball, this includes distinctive ones like the Luxury Ball, Heal Ball, Net Ball, and more.

Unfortunately, Moon Balls are not obtainable in the same way in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. So, you can’t just buy them whenever you please. They are more luck-based than anything else.

To get Moon Balls, it’s time to head to Porto Marinada. If you haven’t been there yet, it’s found in West Province (Area Two) on the west side.

Once you’re there, visit the Auction House. This is where the luck part comes in. The Auction House doesn’t indicate when it will sell a certain item. So, you will have to check in multiple times if you want to get Moon Balls in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Eventually, you’ll see someone auctioning it off. Just outbid the NPC, and you’ll come away with a Moon Ball.

With Moon Balls in hand, you have a stronger chance of catching Jigglypuff out in the wild.
