Once you get your starters and head out into the open world, Pincurchin might be one of the first Pokémon you meet. In appearance and habits, this Pokemon is similar to a sea urchin, but unlike an animal, it is not poisonous. Instead, Pincurchin prefers to use electricity, and it is worth noting that he is very good at it.

Since this Pokémon is a Sea Urchin Pokémon, look for it in specific places. However, like any other Pokemon, it has its habitats, so you should visit the following locations to find Pincurchin in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet:

  • East Province (Area One)
  • East Province (Area Two)
  • Glaseado Mountain
  • North Province (Area One)
  • North Province (Area Three)
  • South Province (Area Five)
  • West Province (Area Two)

And as soon as you see a small lump of thorns in the sand, challenge him. Despite his harmless appearance, Pincurchin can surprise beginners with his attacks as he only has one weakness. As an Electric-type Pokémon, Pincurchin is weak against Ground-type moves. So, use the correct Pokémon to win faster.

Once you have defeated the Pincurchin, you can capture it and should do so if you have just started your adventure in the Paldea region. This cute pocket monster’s attacks are pretty strong, and its resistance to Electric, Flying, and Steel-type will help it survive many battles. But if you are an experienced player, you can fight Pincurchin to get Pincurchin Spines and create TM090 (Spikes) and TM136 (Electric Terrain).
