The divorce between former power couple Kim Kardashian and Kanye West has been in the works for months, but the couple recently reached a settlement. Court documents showed the twosome, after months of back and forth, finalized the divorce terms on amicable grounds on Tuesday, November 29.
Ultimately, the exes would have joint custody of their kids while Kim remains the primary caregiver. This arrangement would help the pair successfully co-parent their children, which the 42-year-old hopes would work. Sources also confirm that Kanye agreed to these terms and several others without putting on much resistance despite his initial opposition.
Kim Kardashian Relieved Kanye West Agreed To The Divorce Settlement
Speaking to People, a source revealed that Kim Kardashian never wanted their divorce to go to trial. Hence, having Kanye agree to the terms and invariably deflecting a rigorous trial process meant a lot to her. According to the source, the SKIMS CEO was relieved at the outcome of the events after many disagreements. The insider divulged:
“[Kim and Kanye] had several initial disagreements that they were now able to agree on. Kanye ended up agreeing to most of the things that he opposed in the past.”
The source also addressed the shared custody agreement between the former spouses, with the mom of four serving as the kids’ primary caregiver. Following the divorce settlement, the parties agreed for Kanye West to speak privately to Kim Kardashian about any grievances rather than go public with them. That way, they could ensure their children’s protection. Having addressed the possible pitfalls they may encounter, The Kardashians star hopes co-parenting their four children will be a bit easier moving forward.
The Divorce Settlement Was Long In The Making
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West finalized their divorce settlement on Tuesday. The absence of resistance from either party confirms that they did so amicably. Per court papers, the Donda star is expected to pay his ex-wife $200,000 monthly in child support as she remains the primary caregiver. Additionally, he would pay half of the children’s medical, educational, and security expenses.
Kim and Kanye also agreed to settle disputes concerning their kids through mediation. In a situation where one parent cannot participate in the mediation, the available parent has the leverage to make the decision by default. They would divide all their assets per the terms of their prenuptial agreements. Meanwhile, the two waived spousal support.
While these divorce terms seem workable and the best for their kid’s welfare, it falls to Kim Kardashian and Kanye West to uphold them and, perhaps, keep their family brawls off the media.
