Finding the TM 157 Overheat in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
This article is over 3 years old and may contain outdated information.

TM 157 is a Technical Machine in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet that can teach pocket monsters Overheat, a powerful Fire-type that serves well as a finishing blow. Similar to the Dragon-type Draco Meteor, Overheat will deal a substantial amount of damage on a single target in exchange for a debuff on the user’s Special Attack. Overheat is Super Effective when applied on Grass-, Ice-, Bug-, and Steel-type opponents but deals half the damage when used on Fire-, Water- Rock-, or Dragon-type foes. As one would expect, mostly every Fire-type pocket monster in Scarlet and Violet can learn Overheat through TM 157.

Unlocking the Overheat TM in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Two TM 157 Overheat Locations in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Source from Map Genie

To get the Overheat TM in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Trainers have the option of discovering the Technical Machine in two locations. One spot is underground in South Province (Area Six), while the other is in North Province (Area Three). Keep in mind that players only need pick up the TM once to unlock its recipe for crafting.

If players head west of Alfornada, they will find the entrance to the Alfornada Cave system beneath Area Six of the South Province. Trainers must head through the entryway and turn left at the first tiki torch. After dropping from a small ledge, fans must check under the sloping stone slab to find the first location for the Overheat TM in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

The second location of the Overheat TM in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is within a snowy ruin across the stream northwest of the North Province (Area Three) Pokécenter. To reach the ruin, players must go up the mountain slope near the Pokécenter and use their Mount’s glide ability to cross the waterfall gap. Next, Trainers must explore what is left of the structure’s interior to find the TM atop the second floor of the ruin. Once players have collected at least of the Overheat TMs in Paldea, they can craft the Technical Machine by using the following materials:

  • 12,000 League Points
  • Litleo Tuft ×5
  • Numel Lava ×3
  • Capsakid Seed ×3

The best region to search for Litleo would be the southeastern portion of the world map. Numel can be found in the West Province (Area One), south and east of the Asado Desert, and Capsakid inhabits the sands within the Asado Desert and the general zone of the West Province.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are available on the Nintendo Switch.
