Half-Life 2 was the most anticipated game of 2004. It had a pleasant story with shiny graphics for its age, especially when compared to its prequel. It’s been 18 years since its release, and fans are still discovering new details. A new and creepy one is just found, as a fan accidentally notices the burned zombie faces are real. We still remember the game characters’ very detailed and high resolution for their age, but the fact most likely sounds creepy and annoying. Valve introduced that annoying Half-Life 2 texture as designed with the Source engine, but it seems like they only copied and pasted an accurate picture. Here’s the short background of this creepy fact accidentally discovered.

The macabre texture decision is discovered by a fan named Richter Overtime. He shared an image from the book that texture is taken from, and they’re precisely the same. That means the developers just used a burned corpse’s picture and integrated it into the game. Probably they thought that would increase the textured reality, which really worked, but the truth is annoying. Some fans have already started calling out Valve to change that game texture on Half-Life 2. Well, a correction patch for an 18-year-old game might be worth it.

Twitter deletes the proof, but if you want to remember which zombie model was that, there you go:

This was reported by Kotaku, and they reached Valve for the details. The company didn’t announce anything yet, and it’s unknown if they would. Half-Life 2 already contains much more annoying game content, and it’s rated at PEGI 16+. Whichever age you are, corpses might be annoying, and it’s sad to know there are many children playing this Half-Life 2.

There are already a few mods released that changes the corpse01.mdl. If you’re planning to hit Half-Life 2, maybe it would be best if you play the game with that kind of modification.
