While Pawmo’s evolution into Pawmot is less than visually engaging, the combative capabilities of this Fighting- and Electric-type Hands-On Pokémon are rather electrifying in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Naturally, Trainers should avoid using Electric-type Moves on Pawmot, not only due to its dual-elemental type but also because of its Volt Absorb ability. As its name implies, Volt Absorb causes any Electric-type attack to restore Pawmot’s HP instead of dealing damage. Pawmot is also equipped with the Hidden Ability, Iron Fist, which bolsters its punching Moves by 20%. Therefore, understanding how to counter Pawmot in battle is essential for dealing with this formidable Hands-On Pokémon.
How to Counter Pawmot in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
First, Trainers need to know what Pawmot’s weaknesses are in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. This Fighting- and Electric-type Hands-On Pokémon is vulnerable to Ground-, Psychic-, and Fairy-type Movesets. Accordingly, the best counters would be the Paradox Scream Tail and Iron Valiant, including the dual-elemental Garchomp. Conversely, Pawmot is able to withstand Bug-, Rock-, Dark-, Steel-, and Electric-type Moves.
However, it should be noted that Scream Tail and Iron Valiant are exclusive to separate versions of the game. Trainers who want these particular counters to deal with Pawmot in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will need to have a Nintendo Switch Online subscription if they want to participate in online trading. Alternatively Hatterene, Armarouge, and Ghothitelle are also excellent Fairy- and Psychic-type counters for the Fighting- and Electric-type Hands-On Pokémon. Moreover, the Ground- and Ghost-type Palossand is a great pick for countering Pawmot’s attacks.
One notable ability that Pawmot can wield is Revival Blessing, a Normal-type Move that revives a fainted pocket monster in one’s party and restores half its max HP. While it is unlikely NPC Trainers will use this ability in combat, users should be aware of Revival Blessing when facing other players with Pawmot in PvP. Pawmot is not the most powerful pick for PvP encounters, but its Revival Blessing can make it a threat to bring back an opponent’s most powerful pocket monsters into the arena. Therefore, Trainers should not underestimate a Pawmot’s presence but instead use Ground-, Psychic-, and Fairy-type to ensure the Hands-On Pokémon goes down quickly.
