For many years now League of Legends has been the most played game in the world. It is about time that a game with so much notoriety finally gets its first app. called League Friends. Many other popular games with a fraction of the player population have external applications on mobile devices. Typically these external applications are used as an extension of the game as a remote, or as a supplement to the game such as a mini-map. However, League of Legend’s developer Riot Games decided to release an application that would exclusively be an extension of the games friends list and messaging center. For so long, one of the League of Legends many strengths as a game has been the integration of playing with friends and getting new friends to play. Riot’s first mobile app focuses on just that and capitalizes on the communities interest in playing with one another.

At any time, we can log onto a mobile device and see which of our friends are online, what game type they are currently playing, as well as how much time they have been in their current game session. Riot games called it “A friends list in your pocket.”

“With the League of Legends, “League Friends” app, you don’t have to be tethered to a 150-pound, hydrogen-cooled gaming rig just to talk shop with your ranked squad. We polymorphed your buddies, and now they fit in your pants”.

Riot Games also highlighted that this app. is a great way to no longer miss any more game invites. Most of us do not have the phone number or Facebook contact info of every person on our League of Legends friends list. This allows you to contact your league friends via mobile devices with needing personal contact information from your online buddies. League Friends is currently live for the North America and Oceania servers and will be released for the other servers in the coming weeks. The application is downloadable now on Android and iOS platforms.

Will you download the app? Let us know and comment below.
