Honey and Honeycomb in Raft
This article is over 3 years old and may contain outdated information.

Honey is a Resource in Raft that survivors can use as a sweet consumable to satiate their Thirst and Hunger or a component in creating Biofuel. For those unfamiliar, Biofuel is a source of power for specific machines that players will need for gameplay progression. This fuel source can be made from Raw Food, but if players are looking to preserve their consumables, they can instead farm Honey using Beehives in Raft. Beehives passively produce Honeycomb, which can be combined with Glass to create a jar of Honey. These jars can then be added to a Biofuel Refiner to produce the valuable Biofuel.

Procuring Honey in Raft

Catching Bees and Finding Honeycombs to Make Beehives in Raft

To acquire and produce the Honey Resource in Raft, players must ensure two conditions have been met. First, they must have progressed far in the story to discover a ship that provides the coordinates to Balboa Island. This event unlocks access to the Evergreen Biome, the Environmental location that spawns Natural Beehives.

Once players find an island with the Evergreen Biome, they can find wild Honeycomb on logs and fallen pieces of wood. These nodes can be collected for Honeycomb but also serve as Natural Beehives, which spawn Bee Swarms. If survivors want to produce Honey on their floating home, they will need to catch the Bees. The second prerequisite for making Honey in Raft is capturing the Bee Swarms with a Sweep Net. To craft this Tool, players will need Planks, Rope, Vine Goo, and a Bolt. Whenever players swing the Sweep Net at a swarm of Bees, they will receive several Bee Jars, one of the components used in making Beehives in Raft.

Once players have collected enough Bee Jars, they can combine the Bees with Planks, Plastic, Clay, and Hinges to make a Honey-producing Beehive in Raft. However, the Beehive cannot produce Honey independently. Survivors must place down Crop Plots filled with Flowers near the hive. The more Flower Plots placed near the Beehive, the more Honeycomb the structure will produce. Nocturne Gaming has stated that the color of Flowers does not have an effect on Honey production, nor does the maturity of the Flowers. However, they must be initially watered to spawn Bees.

Raft is available on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
