Arven is one of the Pokemon trainers you will meet at the academy in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. His skills are questionable at best at the beginning of the game. However, as the story progresses, he will become better and stronger, just like his Pokemon.
He will become an integral part of the campaign as you face Titan Pokemon scattered through Paldea. Once you reach the last mission in the story, you will agree with Arven to meet him at the Poco Path Lighthouse laboratory.
To beat Arven, you need to know his team. We can assure you that Arven doesn’t center around an exact Pokemon type. Instead, he has a team of versatile monsters that can deal massive damage against a plethora of different Pokemon. To beat Arven in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you will need to defeat these Pokemon:
- Greedent 58 Normal Fighting
- Cloyster 59 Water, Ice Electric, Fighting, Grass
- Scovillain 60 Grass, Fire Flying, Poison, and Rock
- Toedscreu 61 Ground, Grass Bug, Fire, Flying, and Ice
- Garganacl 62 Rock Fighting, Grass, Ground, Steel, and Water
- Mabosstiff 63 Dark Bug, Fairy, and Fighting
Make sure your counters are around Level 60. Your best chance is to use primarily Fighting-type Pokemon since his entire team has 4x weakness to Fighting-type damage. Moreover, you should buff your team with consumable items, such as Lum Berry. Some of the best Pokemon you can use to beat Arven in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet:
- Lucario (Annihilape)
- Staraptor (Pelipper)
- Armarouge (Chien-Pao)
- Scovillain (Palafin)
- Pawmot (Jolteon)
- Tinkaton (Heracross)
