We’ve had access to the Frozen realm for quite some time in Disney Dreamlight Valley. However, that comes without our talking snowman who just adores warm hugs. So, where exactly is Olaf? Well, since he isn’t tied to the realm, he’s connected to a specific quest added with the latest update. We’ll detail everything you need to know about the quest to unlock Olaf in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
How to Unlock Olaf in Disney Dreamlight Valley
The Frozen realm is fun as you get to hang out with the likes of Elsa and Anna, but it always felt like something was missing. Well, our bubbly, summer-loving snowman is here and ready to mingle with everyone else. That is if you unlock him.
So, how do we unlock Olaf in Disney Dreamlight Valley? You complete “The Great Blizzard” quest. There’s nothing you need to do to activate it beyond installing the latest game update. Once you do, when you load into the game, a cutscene triggers. This scene features an incredible blizzard taking over Frosted Heights.
After the scene plays out, you’ll notice the new quest. Head on over to consult with Merlin, and you’re one step closer in your quest to unlock Olaf in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
The Great Blizzard – Unlock Olaf Part 1
When you’re done speaking with Merlin, he’ll tell you to investigate the mysterious blizzard. When you head to the area, search the upper right corner of the Frosted Heights biome. You’ll discover a blank wall you can interact with here. The door will light up, and once you enter, you will see our favorite little snowman with some strange, dark squirrels.
However, we still have yet to unlock Olaf in Disney Dreamlight Valley. As you see him, you’ll notice the odd squirrels take and run off with his nose and his buttons. Ever excitable, Olaf enlists your help in tracking them down.

The Great Blizzard – Unlock Olaf in Disney Dreamlight Valley Part 2
Note that for this quest, you cannot just hand over a carrot in your inventory. You must track down the specific carrot that is Olaf’s nose taken by those creepy squirrels.
Thankfully, with how dark they are, you can spot them in the blizzard hiding around the various parts of Frosted Heights. Simply keep your eyes out for the squirrels and walk up to them to get back Olaf’s pieces.
From there, return to the snowman and interact with him some more. He’s missing his arms plus an Orb that he held. Said Orb is what we need to resolve this blizzard.
So, as we work to unlock Olaf in Disney Dreamlight Valley, we are directed to recruit Elsa for help. This is because Olaf believes he will remember where his arms and the Orb are through the memories of water.
The Great Blizzard – Unlock Olaf Part 3
Find and speak with Elsa about Olaf’s water and memory theory, and she will agree to assist. She’ll direct you to the pillar in Frosted Heights. You’re instructed to use your Watering Can, so look for the sparkles near the pillar and water those. You’ll know you watered the right spot when a cutscene plays out and reveals an ice statue.
Afterward, speak more with Elsa and return to Olaf. You’ll need your Watering Can again, as you must unlock more mysteries throughout the cave. Like before, search for the sparkles and water them directly to continue the quest. There are two sparkling locations in the cave.
The next step in the quest to unlock Olaf in Disney Dreamlight Valley is to find a book about portals. Once you find it, you’re directed to construct a Dreamlight Prism using the following resources:
- 3x Shattered Prism
- 5x Purified Night Shards
- 10x Glass
Only the Shattered Prism is unique in that you must find it in the secret chamber with Olaf. Look for sparkling piles as they hold what you need. Once you have everything, construct the Dreamlight Prism at a crafting station (found under “Functional Items”).
The Great Blizzard – Unlock Olaf in Disney Dreamlight Valley Part 4
With the Dreamlight Prism in hand, return to Olaf and place the item on a pedestal next to him. However, there are other items missing from three other pillars in the cave. They are color-coded, so you need these specific gems:
- Citrine
- Emerald
- Amethyst
The order of the gems is the colors of a rainbow, starting with red and ending with purple. So, once you start with red, you want orange, then yellow. Then across to blue, green, and finally purple.
Now, we are inching closer to our quest goal to unlock Olaf permanently in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
Once you set the gems up, you’re tasked to approach the portal and whisper your deepest fears. Simply choose one of the options, and the portal will send out Olaf’s arms and the broken Orb. Olaf will soon hug the player, and the Orb fixes itself.
All that’s left to do is replace the Orb in the pillar in the Frosted Heights. When you’re done, return to Olaf for one last talk, and you will conclude the mission, resolve the blizzard, and unlock Olaf in the Valley.
