Do some of your companions in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet already know the Protect move? Perhaps they learn it via leveling up? If so, then you know just how much the move can come in handy in a tough fight to keep your Pokémon safe. If you want to teach it to others in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, then you need to find TM007 Protect. We’ll show you just how you can get this TM and what you need to craft more of it.

Protect is a rather good Normal-type move that plenty of other Pokémon can learn via TM. It will enable the Pokémon in question to protect itself from all attacks, although it has a higher chance of failing if you continue to use it in battle. Still, it may keep your Pokémon from fainting in a hard battle.

For those that don’t naturally know it, you need TM007 Protect to teach them in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Thankfully, this TM is automatically unlocked when you first visit a Poké Center. So, you don’t have to do anything extra to gain access to it.

You can, however, find it out in the Overworld. This way, you can teach a Pokémon the move without gaining the resources to craft it.

Here are some places you may find TM007 Protect in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet:

  • South Province (Area One): East of the Poco Path Lighthouse | Check behind a large rock

  • South Province (Area Two): Right of the Watchtower | Tucked away down a rocky slope

  • South Province (Area Six): Deep inside the Alfornada Cavern near the Poké Center

Crafting TM007 Protect in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

If you want more beyond the ones you found in the Overworld, then you will have to hit up a TM Machine at a Poké Center and craft them.

TM007 Protect requires the following materials:

  • 400 LP
  • x3 Lechonk Hair
  • x3 Scatterbug Powder

You don’t need a lot of League Points for this one, so that should be easy enough to come by.

For the materials, Lechonk Hair comes from the Lechonk family. There are plenty of areas you can search for them:

  • Casseroya Lake
  • The Pokémon League
  • Tagtree Thicket
  • East Province (Area One, Two)
  • South Province (Area One, Four, Five)
  • West Province (Area Two, Three)

Next, to make TM007 Protect in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, you need Scatterbug Powder from the Scatterbug family. Find them in these areas:

  • East Paldean Sea
  • North Province (Area One, Two, Three)
  • South Province (Area One, Four, Five, Six)

With these materials in your inventory (and enough League Points), you can craft as many TM007 Protect as you wish.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is available on Nintendo Switch.
