In a recent interview with The Daily Beast, Tom Hiddleston sat down to discuss many of the projects that he has recently been working on. Hiddleston discusses his upcoming roles in the Hank Williams biopicย I Saw the Light, his hero turn inย Kong: Skull Island, and channeling James Bond in the upcoming miniseriesย The Night Manager. One detail that particularly stands out from Hiddleston’s comments, however, is the direction that his villainous Loki is headed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Thor: Ragnarok will begin filming in June, and is set to release in late 2017. In speaking about the film, Hiddleston seemed to indicate that it may be Loki’s last rodeo. He stated, “Thor 3ย will be cool because I’ve not done it for four years. I love working with Chris [Hemsworth]. This will be my last time out of the gate.” When pressed about the issue, specifically if he will not be involved in the hugeย Avengers: Infinity War, Hiddleston backtracked a bit: “I don’t know! Honestly, I don’t know. They haven’t got their ducks in a row yet. They make it up as they go along.”
Hiddleston’s Loki has been an extremely important part of the MCU thus far. He has been, sometimes all at once, charming, funny, intelligent, and dangerously psychotic. Most recently, he had faked his own death and usurped the throne of Asgard, crowning himself king. Whether or notย Thor: Ragnarok is truly Hiddleston’s last go as the God of Mischief, we will clearly be seeing plenty of the actor in the future. In the same interview, Hiddleston even addressesย the rumors of James Bond being a future role: “If it ever came knocking, it would be an extraordinary opportunity.”
