Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman’s 15 seasons long run of the pop culture busting experiment show Mythbusters, came to an end earlier this month.  Many of the long-time fans who were saddened by this news have a reason to perk up now as it would appear the show is being revived.

The Science channel, (a division of the Discovery network which was the original producer of Mythbusters) has decided to start their own version of the show.  But before this new version of Mythbusters launches the Science Channel needs to find new hosts and have decided to turn this search into its very own spin-off reality show Search for the Next Mythbusters.

Search for the Next Mythbusters will feature 15 competitors taking on both myths that appeared on the original show as well as brand new claims as they struggle to prove that they deserve to be the new hosts of the show. Mark Etkind, the general manager of the Science Channel, said that he was uncertain if they were going to go with multiple hosts, two hosts or one host, but would make that decision as the reality series ran its course.

Mythbusters
While the new show definitely has the potential to be good, the old hosts will certainly be missed.

The Science Channel is currently asking anyone interested in auditioning for the show to send them recordings of their best myth-busting concepts.  As any fan of the original series knows being a Mythbuster is serious work and so potential contestants shouldn’t be afraid to get down and dirty in addition to being good with their brains.  The application page is located here.

Do you think that no one could ever be as good as Jamie and Adam and that therefore the sets of these new shows will be plagued by the haunting of their pre-death ghosts?  Do you know for a fact that you have what it takes to be the new shows host?  Have you never seen a single episode of the Mythbusters before?  We would be very interested to hear about it in the comments section.
