Mortal Kombat (MK), one of the biggest fighting games in history, has multiple titles under its belt. Recent sources say that an announcement for the newest game of the series, Mortal Kombat 12, will be released next week.
Mortal Kombat 12 Announcement Could Be Coming Soon
One of the most reliable names in the gaming industry, SonicFox, tweeted that they are anticipating a Mortal Kombat 12 announcement soon. This is highly probable since Mortal Kombat’s social media pages keep revisiting the past games for their 30th anniversary; this includes the original game up to MK11.
Furthermore, a reliable leaker, Jeff Grub, also bolstered this claim by replying, “I think they’re going to space.” It is a pretty cryptic tweet, especially with everything that is going on, but it is also possible that the newest installment of the series will be set in space.
It has been four years since the last Mortal Kombat release. People are still waiting whether NetherRealm Studios can top off the MK 11 since it offers beautiful mechanics and graphics that will be hard to surpass.
Since new Unreal Engines (UE) have been released, it will use a more recent version of the engine if the game is really in development. MK11 used UE3, which is really old compared to the newer ones; this makes using a modern version of UE more plausible in Mortal Kombat 12.
NetherRealm Studios has not released a game for ages, and their next game will probably be a Mortal Kombat title. Nevertheless, it is best to take these rumors with a grain of salt since there has not been an official announcement from the developers.
Ultimately, fighting game fans will rejoice that there is a considerable possibility that Mortal Kombat 12 will be released in the same year alongside the newest Tekken and Street Fighter.
