Juno Temple, best known for her role in Ted Lasso, is moving from soccer players to supervillains, having landed a role in Venom 3, the latest in Tom Hardy‘s highly successful movie franchise. What role she’ll take in the movie is unknown, with Marvel keeping their upcoming projects under lock and key as usual.
Tom Hardy’s success as Venom began with 2018’s Venom, in which down-on-his-luck journalist Eddie Brock discovers a plot to infect humanity with goop-like alien symbiote. After being infected by a symbiote himself, Eddie finds himself being taken over by Venom, who agrees to lend his supernatural abilities to Eddie if he agrees to let himself be possessed so Venom can help the symbiotes achieve their own goal. Michelle Williams also stars as Anne Weying, an attorney and Eddie’s ex-fiancee, alongside Riz Ahmed as Carlton Drake/Riot and Reid Scott as Dan Lewis, Anne’s new boyfriend who tries his best to help Eddie despite being out of his depth.
A sequel, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, had Hardy, Williams, and Scott reprising their previous roles, alongside newcomers Naomie Harris as Frances Barrison, aka Shriek, and Woody Harrelson as Cletus Kassidy, who gets infected by the titular Carnage, a symbiote spawned off of Venom. Venom 3 was first hinted at as early as 2018 when Tom Hardy confirmed he had signed on for three films as Eddie Brock; Sony later confirmed that the three-quel was in development at CinemaCon in April 2022.
