Jennifer Lawrence was prepared to make her audience chuckle at CinemaCon even before a clip in “No Hard Feelings” showed, as she poked fun at the director. The movie is her first R-rated comedy role, a Sony film directed by Gene Stupnitsky. Lawrence plays the role of Maddie Barker who works as an Uber driver. But her job as a driver is cut short after her car is repossessed.
In the film, Barker is a victim of an unusual Craigslist posting from a wealthy family. However, there is one problem, her employers have a son, Percy who is socially challenged. He is academically sound but highly introverted.
Barker agrees to seduce their son who does not see the need for human interaction, not to talk of a relationship. The end game is to date him and make him more extroverted before his college days.
The film is set to hit the big screens on June 23, but the trailer has been very promising. Lawrence’s “No Hard Feelings” was promoted in the CinemaCon alongside other Sony films. The list includes “Bad Boys 4,” “Dumb Money,” and Kraven the Hunter.” While attending Monday night’s CinemaCon, Jennifer Lawrence embodied her comedian role again. She proved to the audience that she was born-ready in a clip first reported by Variety.
Jennifer Lawrence Proved Gene Stupnitsky Was Right About Her At CinemaCon
Jennifer Lawrence joined director Gene Stupnitsky for CinemaCon. The event for the night included promoting Sony’s new film “No Hard Feelings.” The director gave Lawrence her flowers for being a “true comedy natural.” Despite it being her first R-rated comedy, she played her role perfectly.
While speaking at the event, the director reiterated the film’s plot. Stupnitsky explained that a couple wanted their introverted son to leave home ‘dis-virgined’ before college.
Lawrence waited for him to finish before asking if it was Stupnitsky’s life story. But the director caught the joke and immediately explained that it was based “off a Craigslist ad.” Somehow, this did not cut it for the actress who added:
“But you were a virgin for, like, a crazy long time. You were 26?”
Stupnitsky sighed, then he attempted playing extended footage from the film and chimed:
“Jennifer, you’re so hilarious. I wrote this part for you.”
The parts shown at CinemaCon had Jennifer Lawrence playing her Barker role. The Uber driver tries to seduce Percy in a bodycon mini dress and heels while visiting the dog shelter where he works.
Percy the king of introverts did not seem to get the sign that Barker was flirting with him even after many attempts. Eventually, she drives him home, and when
Billy Squier’s “The Stroke” came on she goes:
“You know what this song always makes me think about? Stroking.”
The trailer left fans laughing uncontrollably when Percy doused Barker in pepper spray! Stupnitsky’s R-rated directed comedy has a handful of other stars including Natalie Morales, Matthew Broderick, and Laura Benanti.
