Once unlocked, mounted traversal lets you quickly get around with the help of the wildlife. They are also needed to reach some areas, as some places are too high up for Cal to reach. However, he can utilize his new rideable companions to get to the spot.
From bikes to animals, Mounts have specific uses. In some cases, you can fly to go across gaps between land. While it has its limits, as you will still spend most of your time on foot, this new way to travel opens up doors for Cal to find new areas to explore or double back to collectibles he could not obtain earlier.
