Want to know how to unlock new skills in Darkest Dungeon 2? While Darkest Dungeon 2 offers players a vast character list and five combat abilities for each of them at the start of the adventure, that’s not all you can get. In addition to the basic skills, each character can learn six additional skills that will allow you to diversify your gameplay. To do this, you will have to look for rare shrines and go through difficult trials during which you will immerse yourself in the history of each character. And our guide is here to help you and tell you how to unlock new skills in Darkest Dungeon 2.

First, we want to warn you that unlocking new skills for your characters is a long and complicated process. To unlock at least one skill for one character, you must find a rare Shrine of Reflection and complete several challenges. During these trials, you will dive into the past of each hero. And in between storytelling, you will solve small puzzles and tasks.

If you complete this challenge, you will permanently unlock one new skill for your character. And if you lose, you’ll have to find a new shrine. However, here are all the steps to unlock new skills in Darkest Dungeon 2:

  • Gather a team of characters and go on a new adventure. Have at least one character on your team whose skill you want to unlock.
  • Next, look for the Shrine of Reflection on the map (Bell icon).
  • Go to the Shrine and interact with him, after which you can choose the hero whose skill you want to unlock.
  • Complete a series of challenges and immerse yourself in the character’s memories to complete this mini-quest.
  • If you succeed, you will permanently unlock the new skill, which will definitely help you to beat enemies, even if they have high resistance.

It is worth noting that each Shrine of Reflection is a one-time use. Whether you complete the challenge or fail, you can only try once. After that, you will have to look for a new Shrine. But every region has at least a few Shrine of Reflection, so don’t worry.

Also, keep in mind that you can unlock new skills sequentially. So, you may have to complete the challenge for one character several times before you get the desired skill. However, for each victory, you get a Mastery Point, thanks to which you can upgrade your existing abilities.

Darkest Dungeon 2 is available on PS, Xbox, and PC.
