From obsessive vendors to a guy who’ll go wild if you don’t support the Hudson sign, Tears of the Kingdom has all sorts of oddball NPCs. The Legend of Zelda franchise doesn’t shy away from creating weird characters. Side content and character dialogue can crack a couple of snorts if you take the time to read it. The stakes in Tears of the Kingdom are high, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a laugh at a hyper-fixated employee who will freeze to death before letting his boss’ sign fall to the ground. Luckily, Link is here to save the day.

You likely ran into Addison, the NPC holding the big wooden sign, on your way back from Hyrule Castle. It’s pouring, and you can barely see a thing. Then, there he is — a skinny, dripping guy clinging to this sign for dear life.

If you speak to him, he’ll say he’s an avid supporter of the Hudson Company. The guy’s a fanatic and won’t let his dear President Hudson fall. President Hudson being — at least at this very moment — a drawing in the wooden sign.

So, how can you get Addison to dry safely? Follow these steps to support the Hudson sign in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom:

  1. Locate the building materials nearby. Luckily, the Hudson Construction Company provides materials for the restoration of Hyrule. You’ll find a bunch of planks and boulders right behind Addison.
  2. Use Ultrahand to grab and drop some of these materials next to the sign. You can also use Ultrahand to fuse them together and provide better support. Note that the Hudson Sign in Tears of the Kingdom will fall to Addison’s left, so place your supportive creation there.
  3. Speak to Addison and tell him to drop the sign. If the supporting construction is good enough, the sign won’t fall.

That means you can speak to Addison again, watch a little cutscene as he nails the sign in place, and claim your reward. Wouldn’t it have been easier if Link had just held the sign while you did that?

Addison will be stoked you helped him support the Hudson sign in Tears of the Kingdom. So he’ll give you three rewards: 20 Rupees, a Veggie Rice Balls meal that replenishes four hearts, and a Pony pass. Also, the sign will you stay there, adorning Hyrule forever, or at least for a good while.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available on the Nintendo Switch.
