Like you, we also stood before the puzzling pile of Rubble seemingly covering the Forgotten Temple in Tears of the Kingdom with a frown on our faces. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom expands upon the franchise’s beloved Hyrule Kingdom with a Sky and a Surface map. Leaping through the air and suddenly finding yourself in a tiny sky rubble feels terrific. Still, for a game with so many layers, you’d expect them to design a more indicating waypoint system. That way, you’d know if your objective is above or below you. But, like it or not, that’s not the case. So, naturally, this can puzzle some players trying to reach places like the Forgotten Temple.

Tears of the Kingdom: How to Enter the Forgotten Temple

If you played Breath of the Wild, you may recall the Forgotten Temple as Guardian torture. You would innocently set foot in this place, and what seemed like a battalion of Guardians would target you with their distinctive red lasers.

But now that these Guardians are gone,ย Tears of the Kingdom‘s Forgotten Temple sounds inviting. If you can find your way in, that is.

The Forgotten Temple has not moved an inch since the last Zelda game. It’s still in the Tabantha region, deep in the Tanagar Canyon.

If you’re following Impa’s The Dragon’s Tears quest, chances are you glided through the canyon and found yourself right where the quest marker tells you to go. There’s even a location introduction that says “Forgotten Temple” and all, so this must be it, right?

Not quite. To access the Forgotten Temple inย Tears of the Kingdom, you don’t need to get crafty with your Ascend ability or fuse some super strong boulder weapon to break through. Instead, you need to descend further into the canyon, and the entrance will reveal itself. In fact, you’ll see Impa’s buddy Cado and her hot air balloon right at the entrance’s left.ย

Tears of the Kingdom: How to start Impa’s The Dragon Tears quest

Impa’s Dragon Tears quest begins right after you complete Impa and the Geoglyphs, a quest you’ll start and finish in New Serenne Stable in Hyrule Ridge. This quest involves looking at a Geoglyph from Impa’s Hot Air Balloon, and it triggers Link’s memory recollection adventures โ€” yes, again.

After that quest, The Dragon’s Tears will begin automatically. And the first step to completing this quest is reaching the Forgotten Temple inย Tears of the Kingdom.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomย is available on the Nintendo Switch.
