DC Comics revealed their new logo which is set to debut on May 25 with the release of โDC Universe: Rebirth Specialโ #1. The new logo was implemented immediately on all DC Comics websites, DC All Access, social media, and various other digital platforms.
“While comics continue to be the heart and soul of DC, the brand has evolved to now stand for powerful storytelling across so many different forms of media. DC is home to the greatest Super Heroes and Super-Villains, and the new logo has the character and strength to stand proudly alongside DCโs iconic symbols,” said Amit Desai, DC Entertainment Senior Vice President of Marketing and Global Franchise Management, in a statement. “The launch of the new logo is the perfect tribute to DCโs legacy, exciting future and most importantly, our fans.”

The change came about to help market the old and the new of DC comics going forward. Rebirth, though being met with mixed reactions, is a way DC can bring in new fans. After the mixed reactions of the New 52, DC is moving forward not with just branding, but also story lines as well. Rebirth, another reboot of DC Comics storylines, will incorporate aesthetics of newer artists and works from the early days of DC comics.
โDC Universe: Rebirth Specialโ #1 was written with the collaboration of Geoff Johns, Phil Jimenez, Ethan Van Sciver, Ivan Reis, and Gary Frank.
โIโm very proud that REBIRTH will be the first comic book published with the new DC logo,โ stated Geoff Johns, DC Entertainmentโs Chief Creative Officer. ย โTo me, REBIRTH and the new DC logo are built on whatโs come before while looking to what will come tomorrow. ย I canโt wait for people to see it on the cover.โ
The new logo was created with the help of Pentagram, the worldโs largest independent design consultancy. It is unsure at the moment that it will be used for the DCEU (movie universe).
