While exploring the frigid Herbra Mountains, you might come upon “The Northwest Hebra Cave Crystal” Shrine Quest in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. Like the Ikatak Shrine of Gisa Crater, this Selmie’s Spot Shrine involves solving an environmental puzzle to retrieve the green crystal to access Rauru’s Blessing. The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom often offers flexibility when it comes to solving such Shrine Quests. However, generally, only one solution is superior, which is what we will discuss for “The Northwest Hebra Cave Crystal” of Rutafu-Um Shrine in TotK.

Where Is the Rutafu-Um Shrine in Tears of the Kingdom?

The Rutafu-Um Shrine location is within the Hebra Mountains Northwest Cave in Tears of the Kingdom. This underground location sits at the coordinates -2996, 3102, 0515, slightly to the northwest side of Selmie’s Spot near the Hebra East Summit. The nearest towers are the Rospro Pass Skyview Tower to the far south and the far-eastern Pikida Stonegrove Skyview Tower.

After you enter the cave, you cannot access “The Northwest Hebra Cave Crystal” Shrine just yet. A group of Bokoblins will be guarding the area by a campfire on the opposite side of the freezing cavern pond. They should be huddled together by the fire, making them an easy target for a sneaky AoE attack. We recommend using a projectile with an explosive effect, like a Bomb Flower. Finish off the remaining Bokoblins with a melee weapon to continue to where the Shrine is located.

After you’ve interacted with the runic symbol, a beam will appear, initiating the “The Northwest Hebra Cave Crystal” Shrine Quest. To unlock Rutafu-Um Shrine in Tears of the Kingdom, follow the beam’s direction to the chilly pond in the center of the cave. You’ll quickly realize the light points directly into the depths of the freezing waters. Naturally, Link’s body isn’t built for ice swimming, regardless of his armor or protection.

Therefore, you’ll need to use your Ultrahand’s ability to find a clever way to retrieve the green crystal from the water. Here is our suggested method to solve the Shrine Quest puzzle of Rutafu-Um Shrine in Tears of the Kingdom:

  1. Look up at the ceiling and use your bow to shoot down a giant icicle.
  2. Stand near the water’s surface and submerge the icicle, moving it close to the crystal.
  3. When the icicle is close enough, attach the crystal and icicle together with your Ultrahand.
  4. Fish out the crystal from the water and drop it onto the ground.
  5. Take the crystal with your Ultrahand to the Shrine to complete “The Northwest Hebra Cave Crystal” in TotK.

Inside the Shrine, you’ll access Rauru’s Blessing, where you can receive a Treasure Chest and Light of Blessing. Open the chest to receive a Topaz. You can sell this gem for Rupees or use it to enhance equipment. If you’d like a video Shrine guide, here’s a walkthrough by Gamer Guides on YouTube:
