Konami has clarified the development details surrounding Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater Remake, following some initial confusion. Virtuos Studio, the team that had been rumored in the months leading up to the announcement at the PlayStation Showcase, is indeed involved in supporting the development of the game, and not Bluepoint.

A spokesperson from Konami confirmed that in addition to their own development team working on the Metal Gear series, Virtuos, a renowned development company with a track record of successful ports, is fully collaborating on the remake project. Virtuos has contributed to various notable projects over the past decade, including the porting of Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster to PS3 and PS Vita, the creation of Batman: Return to Arkham for PS4, and providing artistic assistance to Guerrilla Games on Horizon Zero Dawn and last year’s Horizon Forbidden West. Their most recent work includes the PS5 remaster of The Outer Worlds, which received mixed reviews and is still undergoing patch updates.

Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater Remake Is a High Priority

Konami expressed their dedication to recreating the beloved Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater, considered one of the most cherished entries in the Metal Gear series. The remake, now officially titled Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater, aims to faithfully retell the origin story of Naked Snake, aka Big Boss while incorporating stunning visuals. In more great news for Metal Gear fans, the voice cast from the original game is confirmed to be returning, although David Hayter, the voice behind Big Boss and Solid Snake, did not feature in the announcement trailer.

With Virtuos Studio collaborating alongside Konami’s own development team, fans can anticipate an immersive and visually enhanced remake that stays true to the iconic story and gameplay of Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater. It is promising to see that Konami’s new studio is already being put to good use, and we can expect a lot more in the coming years.
