Following the first official trailer for Pokemon Sun and Moon several weeks ago, a new trailer was released today showing off more information about the upcoming sequels.
The previously shown legendary Pokemon were given names. The white lion with lines of gold jutting out of its mane that adorns the Pokemon Sun box art is named Solgaleo and is a Psychic and Steel type. It has the ability Full Metal Body, which means that its stats cannot be lowered by enemy moves.
The large crescent bat that graces the cover of Moon Version is Lunala – a Psychic and Ghost type. It comes with the Shadow Shield ability, which allows it to take less damage from opponents with full HP. The in-battle gameplay of both was also shown, along with attacks unique to each legendary.
The trailer also shed light on some of the characters shown in the previous trailer. The man in the white scientists coat with a bare chest is known as Professor Kukui. He is joined by his “mysterious assistant, Lillie,” and Hau, your new friend and possibly rival. But possibly the biggest moment in the new trailer was the reveal of the new Pokedex.
The Pokemon Rotom has taken up residence inside your Pokedex and will help guide you on your journey. This could change up the dynamic of the story – as the player now essentially has a sidekick. It will be essential in helping players track down the many new and rare Pokemon that litter the tall grass of the new Alola region.
We’ve gotten a lot of new information on Pokemon Sun and Moon in a relatively short amount of time. Nintendo has already confirmed that the games will not be playable at E3, but stay tuned to The Nerd Stash for more Pokemon news as it develops.
