Whether you play Fortnite for its battle royale, its survival-crafting Lego mode, or the guitar-hero tribute, there is one thing that overshadows them all: the many skins this game has. Regardless of when you joined Fortnite, you were likely surprised to see the plethora of cosmetics that invade this game almost weekly. From collaborations to original skins and real-life artists, there’s something for everyone. If your endgame is collecting all of them, we’ve taken the task of counting how many skins are in Fortnite. Also, since new cosmetics arrive almost every week, we’ll update this guide constantly.

(Updated on December 2, 2024 – Updated images and the total count for all skins. Added the new outfits of Chapter 2 Remix).

Fortnite Skins Total Count (December 2024)

As of December 2024, there are 1,990 skins in Fortnite. The number is quite big, and listing all of them would be a huge endeavor. It would potentially turn this guide into an encyclopedia of sorts, which isn’t our goal. However, we always try to list the most recent skins so players can see what’s new in store.

What Are the Most Recent Outfits?

If you’re only interested in owning the most recent skins in Fortnite, we’ve made a quick list of the ones in the current season, which is Chapter 6, Season 1. Here are the featured ones:

  • Nyanja (Battle Pass)
  • The Night Rose (Battle Pass)
  • Jade (Battle Pass)
  • Hero Baymax (Battle Pass)
  • Daigo (Battle Pass)
  • Shadow Blade (Battle Pass)
  • Kendo (Battle Pass)

Are Fortnite Skins Always Available?

Let’s move on to the not-so-good part of outfits in Fortnite. Are they always available? No. If you didn’t know, the item shop rotates daily. Most themed outfits or those of a specific franchise tend to stay for most of a season or for several weeks. For example, most icon series and seasonal outfits stay at the item shop for a few weeks. However, original cosmetics tend to rotate daily. If you really want one specific skin, we recommend visiting the item shop before and after the daily reset, which occurs at 5:00 pm (PT).

Can You Get Free Skins?

Yes and no. Most of the outfits are tied to Fortnite‘s battle pass and item shop. However, that doesn’t mean Epic Games is against giving us freebies. On certain occasions, especially holidays such as Christmas, the developers tend to give us one or two free outfits. Yet, if you want some of the rare or licensed ones, you’ll have to spend V-bucks or purchase the Battle Pass. If you want to focus on outfits of the latter, once you purchase and complete one Battle Pass, you won’t have to spend money on V-bucks again because the Battle Pass practically gives you the necessary amount to purchase subsequent ones. For item shop skins, though, you’ll need to spend a bit of real-life money in order to get them all.
