Does Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny have a post-credits scene? This is one of the most common questions about the famous archaeologist’s latest and final adventure. It’s not an unreasonable question to ask. Post-credits scenes are so common nowadays that many consider them a tired gimmick. And with the Indiana Jones series being such a famous franchise spawning five movies, it’s no surprise that many expect a post-credits scene teasing yet another sequel. However, there is no post-credits scene for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, and for good reason. Let’s examine some of those reasons.
The Series Has Never Had a Post-Credits Scene
In some instances, it’s reasonable to expect a post-credits scene. Thanks primarily in part to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, one can’t go to a superhero movie these days without Googling in advance whether or not there is a post-credits scene at the end of a film.
However, the Indiana Jones series has never set such a precedent. From Raiders of the Lost Ark onward, there has never been a post-credits scene for any of these movies. There’s no reason to expect this movie to divert from that formula.
The Last ‘Indiana Jones’ Movie Shouldn’t Have a Post-Credits Scene
We will repeat what we said earlier: Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is the last movie in this series. Typically, albeit not always, post-credits scenes serve as teasers for the next film in the franchise. But Harrison Ford, who is turning 81 this month, has made it clear that he is done playing the character. And as he told The Today Show in 2019, “I’m Indiana Jones. When I’m gone, he’s gone. It’s easy.” This is Indy’s last adventure; we shouldn’t expect a teaser for more adventures.
To reiterate: Indiana Jones has never had a post-credits scene, and there’s no reason to deviate from that formula with the last movie. So when you see Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, don’t feel the need to stay in your seat when the movie ends.
