PETA and Paris Hilton are at it again. This time, the animal rights organization called out the This is Paris star over her new pup. The heiress got her dog, a Chihuahua, from a breeder rather than a dog adoption center, as recommended by the organization. PETA slammed her for her willful ignorance of the more humane ways she could have gotten her new pup. According to PETA Paris Hilton’s new pup could have been one who desperately needed a new home.
PETA and Paris Hilton in New Pup Drama
Hilton has once again been called out by the American animal rights organization PETA. A spokesperson for the animal rights organization disclosed PETA’s grievance in a chat with TMZ. While the organization was not against her getting a new pet, they were aggrieved at how Hilton got her new pup. According to the spokesperson, they were dogs in animal shelters and on Petfinder who needed new homes. For them, it would have been honorable for The Bling Ring star to adopt a new pup rather than buy one from a breeder.
“Paris Hilton has apparently been living under a rock for the past decade, because a day in an animal shelter would have shown her just how many Chihuahuas already need homes, and five minutes on Petfinder would turn up thousands more, including puppies,” the PETA spokesperson said.
The recent callout by PETA isn’t Paris Hilton’s first. She has been a regular violator of the organization’s ideals. In 2009, she was slammed for her decision to add a piglet to her family of pets. Hilton was dragged again in 2016 after acquiring a pup for $8000 from a breeder. Like with their most recent grievance with Hilton’s new pup, the organization accused her of rendering dogs in adoption centers homeless.
Besides regularly angering PETA, Hilton has also been in trouble with the Los Angeles Department of Animal Services. In 2008, she was under investigation after revealing that she owned 17 dogs. That number is over five times what was required of a non-breeder per address.
Paris Hilton Gets A New Pup
The House of Wax star is, without a doubt, an animal lover. Hilton faced the need to add a new pup to her family of pets after she lost 23-year-old Harajuku Bitch in May. Yesterday, she took to Instagram to introduce her new pup to her teeming followers. Hilton’s new pup, a brown-and-white chihuahua, is particularly special to her because he is related to her late dog. Although PETA has continually criticized Paris Hilton, she hasn’t responded to any of their criticisms.
