The official trailer for Ahsoka has been released, giving us our first full-face look at Grand Admiral Thrawn. The villain is one of the many characters from Star Wars: Rebels, who will be part of the series, and he is portrayed by his Rebels voice actor Lars Mikkelsen. The character will serve as the main villain of the series. In the trailer, Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) says she has started “hearing whispers of Thrawn’s return as heir to the empire.” Recognizing the growing threat, she must join allies such as Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) and Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) to stop Thrawn.

The official trailer for Ahsoka also features scenes of the late Ray Stevenson as a new villain, Baylan Skoll, a former Jedi and ally to Thrawn. There are also numerous references to Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen), who has been confirmed to appear in this series despite being deceased in the timeline. There are multiple ways that Anakin’s appearance could play out, many of which would make sense in the Star Wars universe.
The cast also includes Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger, and Star Wars veteran Genevieve O’Reilly reprising her role as Mon Mothma. Former Doctor Who actor David Tennant voices lightsaber-crafting droid Huyang, and Wes Chatham has a mysterious role as Thrawn’s right-hand man.
Ahsoka is the latest of many Star Wars projects that are in the works. We can also look forward to the upcoming Skeleton Crew series, a second season of Andor, a series focused on Lando Calrissian, and a new movie trilogy from Rian Johnson. A fourth season of The Mandalorian has also been confirmed.
Ahsoka will consist of eight episodes. The series will kick off with a two-episode premiere on August 23rd on Disney+.
