Insomniac Games surprised fans with the announcement of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 custom PS5 console and PlayStation DualSense controller. Spider-Man 2 is a direct follow-up to the acclaimed Spider-Man games developed by Insomniac. The game includes brand-new gameplay features. Peter Parker has bonded with the Venom symbiote and gains new powers. The custom PlayStation 5 and controller designs center around the Venom symbiote overtaking Spider-Man’s body. The console and controller use bright red and black color schemes to draw players’ eyes.
Spider-Man 2’s Custom PS5 and Controller Are Venomous
Marvel and Insomniac announced the custom PlayStation 5 and controller at San Diego Comic-Con. Because of the ongoing SAG and WGA strikes, actors and writers aren’t able to promote films at the convention. Companies decided to shift the focus of Comic-Con to brands and media they can discuss, such as video games.
Spider-Man 2 showcased a big panel with the lead voice actor featuring never-before-seen artwork and footage. The custom PS5 and controller were the highlights of the panel.
The custom PS5 has two different looks on the front and back. On one side, the black Venom symbiote is engulfing the console. The red from the Spider-Man suit is still visible, with the symbiote creaking its way to consume. The other side of the console is all-black, with a white spider logo.
The Spider-Man 2 PlayStation controller follows a similar motif, with blackness engulfing the controller. Only a hint of red remains on the controller.
The Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Limited Edition Bundle includes:
- The custom PS5 console.
- The custom DualSense wireless controller.
- A voucher for a digital copy of the Standard edition of Spider-Man 2.
Players can purchase custom PS5 console covers of the Spider-Man 2 design if they don’t want to buy a new PS5. The Spider-Man 2 DualSense controller can also be purchased separately.
Pre-orders for the bundle and accessories will begin on July 28. The bundle and accessories will launch ahead of the game’s release date, September 1. The voucher in the bundle will only download the game on the release date.
