You should heavily weigh your choices in Baldur’s Gate 3 — even if it’s just deciding whether to wake Shadowheart or take the Artefact. Knowing what consequences a mistake would bring or whether or not to turn against someone is essential. You meet Shadowheart for the first time in the tutorial, in a situation similar to yours, and you decide to help her. But at that moment, you notice that she has a strange pentagonal Artefact that may give you some clue about what is happening. When the ship crashes, you find Shadowheart passed out on Ravaged Beach. Now you face a difficult decision. Do you wake Shadowheart or just concentrate on your strategy and inspect the Artefact?
Your answer, really, doesn’t matter. She will keep the Baldur’s Gate 3 Artefact regardless of whether you wake Shadowheart or take the Artefact. There are no positive or negative relationship consequences for this early game choice.
What Happens If You Take the Artefact in BG3
If you choose to find out what this mysterious object is all about, you are out of luck. Shadowheart will wake up and ask you what you did while she slept.
To wake Shadowheart or take the Artefact is up to you and harbors little to no consequences. If you’ve already chosen to take the Artefact and she caught you mid-robbery attempt, there are two routes you can go. You can be honest and fess up your intentions, or lie to her face and tell her you were concerned about her health.
What Happens If You Wake Shadowheart in BG3
It’s a good idea to start this friendship on the right foot and decide to wake her up. Sure, you won’t gain trust points at the moment. But you’ll have the chance to find out more about this strange Artefact in the future without turning her against you.
Now that you know this, it’s up to you to wake Shadowheart or take the Artefact. Since Shadowheart is a Cleric, mostly healer-type class, she’s an excellent addition to your party. Plus, she plays a vital role in discovering who is behind all this.
What Is the Shadowheart Artefact Exactly?
Don’t worry, though, because this is not the last you’ve seen of this Artefact. As you progress through the game and make choices that align with Shadowheart’s morals, she’ll reveal more about the nature of this mysterious, secretive Artefact.
Whether you wake Shadowheart or take the Artefact in Baldur’s Gate 3 doesn’t reveal any information. Just know it all concerns the goddess she worships, Shar, and returning it to Baldur’s Gate for her companion quest. And, as you’ll uncover through the main story, it’s also tied to the Githyanki. They’re very interested in Shadowheart’s Artefact and will hunt her down if it’s revealed to be in her possession.
