Peter Dinklage, Marisa Tomei, and Anne Hathaway are a star-studded trio in the latest trailer for She Came to Me, a romantic comedy that places the three stars in a messy, music-filled love triangle. The movie will star Dinklage as a depressed composer, Hathway as his struggling wife, and Tomei as a young, romance-addicted tugboat operator who turns their lives upside down. Directed by Rebecca Miller, She Came to Me will also star Brian d’Arcy James and Joanna Kulig, among others, and is currently slated to be released on September 29th.
‘She Came to Me’ Trailer Showcases a Messy, Three-Part Relationship
First debuting at the 2023 Berlin Film Festival, She Came to Me centers around Peter Dinklage as Steven Lauddem, a New York composer struggling to find inspiration for a new opera. Locked in a depressive state after suffering a “total breakdown” over his last opera, Steven is forced out of bed by Patricia (Anne Hathaway), his therapist wife. While Patrica deals with a therapy patient that keeps imagining her naked, Steven takes his dog for a walk and along the way, runs into Katrina (Marisa Tomei), a tugboat operator. Katrina, who admits to being “addicted to romance”, takes Steven back to her tugboat and seduces him.
Now armed with new inspiration, Steven completes his new opera, which features a woman who lures men to her tugboat, kills them, and eats them. The opera, obviously inspired by Steven’s encounter with Katrina, opens to high praise, leading Katrina to claim her place as Steven’s “muse” and souring his marriage to Patricia. Things digress further as the trailer shows Patricia going through a spiritual crisis while Katrina gets increasingly attached to Steven, claiming she’s in love with him.
Aside from their upcoming roles in She Came to Me, Peter Dinklage and Anne Hathway can both be seen in the upcoming films The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and Eileen, respectively. Marisa Tomei can be in Delia’s Gone (2022), along with the most recent Spider-Man trilogy, where she starred as Aunt May to Tom Holland’s Peter Parker.
Rebecca Miller both wrote and directed She Came to Me, with producers including Christine Vachon, Pamela Koffler, Damon Cardasis, Hathaway, and Miller. She Came to Me is distributed under Vertical Entertainment. She Came to Me will be released to theaters on September 29th, 2023.
