Battlebots, the show that pits remote-controlled robots against each other in a booby-trapped arena, is four episodes into its latest season. Already veterans from previous tournaments have proved their mettle while a couple of rookies have earned unexpected victories. The Round of 32, which will see a total of 16 one-on-one matches, continues this week and will feature eight matches. Names to watch out for include Lock-Jaw vs. Brutus, Bite Force vs. Ringmaster, and HyperShock vs. Warrior Clan.

Each battle in Battlebots lasts three minutes and continues until one robot is defeated outright or until the time runs out. When matches end with no definite victor, the decision goes to the judges, who tally up the hits and degree of damage to determine which robot makes it to the next round.

The bots who have already won their way into the Round of 16 brackets are Bronco, Minotaur, Red Devil, and Yeti. All four winners so far won by total knockout, with the quickest match lasting only one minute between Bronco and ChromeFly. Every robot, its stats, the team behind it, and its weapons and competition history can be viewed on the Battlebots website, as well as the upcoming competitors to be featured in the next episode.

Last year, the Battlebots tournament came down to a death match between Bite Force and Tombstone, both of which were veterans and favorites to win the competition. T0mbstone made it to the finals after beating Bronco by knockout, and Bite Force demolished Ghost Raptor. However, neither finalist was able to KO the other, and the outcome was so close that the judges ended up with a split 2-1 vote. The ultimate winner was Bite Force.

Episode five, which will continue the current season’s Round of 32, airs on ABC this Thursday at 8:00 p.m EST, 7:00 p.m. CT, and is set to feature last year’s winner, Bite Force.
