Getting famous is not in anyone’s control, especially Nicolas Cage in the trailer for Dream Scenario (seen below). The upcoming comedy finds a fitting place for its lead actor as he continues to star in bizarre, unique films. It was written and directed by Norwegian filmmaker Kristoffer Borgli (Sick of Myself).
Dream Scenario follows Nicolas Cage as Paul Matthews, an average teacher and family man who suddenly starts appearing in people’s dreams. At first, he is not doing anything in their dreams. The subtle appearances make him go from ordinary to extraordinary as he becomes a pseudo-celebrity and viral sensation. Soon, people’s perspective changes as the dream version of Paul starts becoming a nightmarish Boogeyman that affects his personal life.
Dream Scenario Trailer Sees Nicolas Cage Go From Viral Sensation to Boogeyman
The A24 film has a mix of big names and indie stars. Alongside its lead, the film stars Lily Bird (Beau Is Afraid), Julianne Nicholson (Mare of Easttown), Jessica Clement (Pure), Star Slade (Burden of Truth), Tim Meadows (The Goldbergs), Dylan Baker (Selma), and Kaleb Horn (Glamorous). If you blink, you could easily miss the quick appearance in the footage of Michael Cera.
The trailer of Dream Scenario follows its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it found a positive response from its audience. It is early to say reviews have solidified, but with 27 reviews, it is holding an 85% on Rotten Tomatoes. Much of the positivity around Dream Scenario has been around Nicolas Cage. Critics praised him for yet another memorable, excellent performance. He has been on quite the upward trajectory in recent years after not receiving much love through the 2000s. With the upcoming A24 comedy, Pig, and other recent films, we are living in the Cage Renaissance.
Dream Scenario will receive its theatrical run November 10.
