Getting to play the latest and greatest in fighting games is one thing, but being able to play them with your friends makes them so much more enjoyable. With Mortal Kombat 1, the sentiment is the same with players all over the world setting up matches with their friends locally and online. Considering that, we wrote out a guide down below to show you how to play local and online multiplayer with a friend in Mortal Kombat 1.

There are a variety of different multiplayer modes that you can take advantage of as you play. This is more depending on whether you want to play more casually or want to use a competitive edge. Explaining the different methods is easier if we divide them between online and local multiplayer.

How To Play Online Multiplayer

Online, players can choose not only to play with their friends in Kasual Versus, King of the Hill, or Kombat League. The former puts two players and their Kameo together to fight against one another without the fear of gaining or losing points that correlate directly to fighting status. The same goes for King of the Hill where a group of up to eight players fight amongst one another to become King and continue fighting. At the end of the match, if you are a spectator, you will be able to grant up to ten Respect Points to the winner.

In Kombat League, your matches are ranked and you’ll earn points that will move you forward or behind in rank. These ranks are as follows, which are the same from Mortal Kombat 11:

  • Apprentice
  • Kombatant
  • Warrior
  • Champion
  • Master
  • Grand Master
  • Demi-God
  • God
  • Elder God

How To Play Local Multiplayer

If you would rather play offline with your friends in local multiplayer, then you’re in luck! There are Private Versus and Tournament modes that you can play with your friend right next to you. Those same friends can also play online in Kasual Matches and King of the Hill games if they don’t live nearby, but those cannot be played normally in a local match.

After that, you should be able to join your friends in local or online multiplayer in Mortal Kombat 1 in no time, no matter where they are.
