Going through a steaming service’s library can be a time-consuming activity. Tubi, Fox’s ad-supported service, hopes to improve this with ChatGPT’s Rabbit AI for its search recommendations. Typically, any service will recommend titles based on what you are typing. Putting in a word, the engine will give you suggestions of movies or shows with that word in the title before giving similar titles if nothing can be found.
AI Will Give You Recommendations in Tubi’s Search
The AI used for Tubi can find your recommendations based on a specific search. If you look up “funny slasher,” as you may want something spooky yet comedic for October, then it will give you horror comedy slashers.
Every streamer has the same issue of having too many shows and movies for people to sift through. It becomes even harder when there is an original production from the company, which can be tricky to get enough people to watch the thing that so much time and money was spent on creating. As Tubi has over 50,000 shows and movies, this method could make it easier for users to find what they want to watch, even if they are unsure of the title.
As first revealed by Variety, the AI used by Tubi will analyze your likes, dislikes, and viewing patterns. If you save search results from the AI to My List or watch any, then it will be saved to better curate its suggestions to you.
The use of AI in entertainment has become a hot issue. It was one of the reasons SAG-AFTRA and WGA went on strike earlier this year. It is uncertain how Rabbit AI used by Tubi will evolve, whether it betters the experience for users or inspires executives to use it in areas that interfere with creatives. Plenty of studios have been experimenting, like suggesting scripts from AI to Marvel using an AI-created intro credits sequence for Secret Invasion.
Rabbit AI is in beta on the mobile app of Tubi for most of its user base. ChatGPT customers can use it as a plug-in.
