This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

While the main quests of Starfield could be dull, instead majority of the Faction quests are very interesting. One of the many factions in the game is Ryujin Industries and its corporation quests are truly fun to complete. One of the missions you will do to gain their trust is the Top Secrets. There are a couple of objectives in this quest that can be completed in multiple ways. So here is a thorough guide on how to complete the Top Secrets Quest in Starfield.

After you complete a series of small tasks for the Ryujin Industries, Imogene will take you to the Ularu. While Imogene is gaining trust in you, Ularu isn’t that faithful yet. So she gives you 1,000 credits to get information from Simon Ryczek, her informant. As you could have guessed, it won’t be enough, so it is safe to have at least 10,000 Credits with yourself.

How to Get Information From Simon Ryczek

Simon is located in Cydonia, Mars. So fast travel there and follow the marker to locate the informant. Start a conversation with Mr. Ryczek and pay close attention to it until he says “Galactic Raiders are the number one pick for the Universal Championship this year.” The dialogue you must select is “Razor derby is the only real sport” because that is the code to let Simon know Ularu has sent you.

Jumping to how to get the information from him, Simon will say that the price of the information has increased. There are three ways you can get the information:

  • Pay the 10,000 Credits and get the information right there
  • Use persuasion to get a discount and pay 8,000 Credits
  • Help him with a personal issue and in return get the information you need

While giving the Credits will make the quest shorter, if you decide to help Simon, you can get The Ember Pistol. So we suggest you choose that dialogue even if you have the credits. His request is to find and kill Malai Liskova and bring her gun as proof. Eventually, you will get to keep the gun for yourself.

Malai Liskova’s ship will be around Saturn’s orbit. As soon as you fast-travel there, The Datura will hail at you. In this situation, you can either avoid bloodshed if you have persuasion skills or start shooting as soon as you see the ship. It doesn’t affect the quest since you will eventually get the pistol one way or another. If you want to avoid violence choose these dialogues:

  • I’m here to save your life
  • I’m here to discuss an alternative to killing you
  • Simon will stop if he believes you’re dead
  • Simon wants your gun as proof of death

When you choose these dialogues, Malai will allow you to board her ship. Then if you can persuade her, she will give you the pistol and avoid bloodshed. Otherwise, you have to kill her and loot the pistol from her body. Once you are done here, go back to Simon and show him the Ember Pistol. He will say that you can keep the pistol and just want to see it as proof.

Is it Possible to Get The Datura Ship?

Players can definitely take Malai’s ship, The Datura as well as her pistol, but there is no peaceful way. In case you couldn’t get the ship during this quest, there is a chance you might encounter it in space in your future voyages. We also recommend watching the Backseat Guides video to have a better understanding:

There are two ways you can get this ship in the Top Secrets quest:

  • Attack and destroy The Datura’s engine without defeating it (Requires advanced targeting system)
  • Persuade Malai to let you go on board and then kill her inside the ship.

Let’s go back to the main task of this quest, getting the information for Ryujin Industries. Simon will give you the information and one of them is Stanley McMillan’s schedule. Read it from the Notes section of your Inventory and then head to the marker.

Stanley won’t be near his computer between 11:00 and 13:30 or after 17:00. That’s when you have to hack the computer and get the information needed. Afterward, head back to Ryujin HQ and deliver the information to complete the Top Secrets quest in Starfield.

Starfield is now available for PC and Xbox Series X|S.
