Buying a console can get complicated with various editions, and bundles mix up what you get with your shiny new console. Microsoft has announced a new Xbox Series S Starter Bundle. The pack will get you the affordable 512 GB console, three months of Game Pass Ultimate, a wireless controller in Robot White, and an HDMI cable. It will be released on Halloween for $299.99, the same price as the regular Series S.
The deal is reasonable as you will pay the same for a normal Xbox Series S, but with about $50 worth of Game Pass Ultimate. The tier of the company’s subscription service offers an EA Play membership, multiplayer, deals and discounts, and access to new and old games on console, PC, and cloud.
Xbox Series S Starter Bundle Gets You Ready for Current Generation
The announcement comes right before the holiday season kicks off all kinds of deals and big releases coming to round out 2023. With Alan Wake 2 coming right before the bundle, it would make for a tempting purchase after receiving a new console. It also comes around the time of Spider-Man 2, which webs up competition for the holidays. Microsoft has already been behind this generation due to its struggles last generation with the Xbox One, criticism over a lack of major game releases, and Sony unleashing AAA games that sell like hotcakes.
The timing of the Xbox Series S Starter Bundle works out due to recent first-party releases. Starfield is still fresh in people’s minds for you to shoot to the stars. Forza Motorsport just released on October 10 to satisfy that desire to drive expensive sports cars. Like any first-party release, they are available on Game Pass, giving extra value to those three months of Game Pass Ultimate.
Xbox has been pushing harder this year to reach its customers and a potential new audience with tantalizing deals, console editions, and Game Pass. In September, it released a black 1TB Series S for $349.99. The company is expected to close out its Activison-Blizzard deal this month, opening the door for major IP like Diablo, Warcraft, Call of Duty, and more. While we don’t expect those games to be on Game Pass too soon, it should come when everything settles down after the baton is handed over.
The Xbox Series S Starter Bundle is up for pre-orders.
