This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

Offering players over 80 unique species of fish, Palia will make you struggle to find the right one for a quest or dish, but fortunately, this is not the case with Calico Koi. Being the most common koi fish, this fish lives in both game regions and is not particularly picky about its habitat. Calico Koi can be an excellent source of income because to find and catch it in Palia, you won’t have to climb caves or wander along the sea coastline. But you still have to find a couple of specific lakes and use specific bait.

As we said, you can find Calico Koi in Palia, both Kilima Village and Bahari Bay. But being a lover of standing water and snacks on plankton, Calico Koi lives only in the Ponds. If you prefer to wander around the open spaces of Kilima Village, you can start your fishing trip in the Mirror Pond Ruins area. Alternatively, you can head to the small lake west of Daiya Family Farm.

On the other hand, Bahari Bay offers many more suitable bodies of water, although none are as vast as Mirror Pond Ruins. You can start farming Calico Koi in a small lake north of Bahari Bay in the Thorny Thicket area. And then move south to fish in small lakes along the way. In reality, none offer a great chance of successful fishing, so choose a place with the best views.

How To Catch Calico Koi

Once you reach a suitable habitat, you can easily catch Calico Koi. First, you won’t need bait, so you can select the No Bait option before casting your line. Secondly, Calico Koi is not picky about the time of day, so you can catch it whenever you want.

You can use any rod, starting with the Makeshift Rod, but having a higher-level rod will make the fishing process much faster. We also recommend fishing in areas with rippling water. It won’t increase your chances of finding Calico Koi, but it will help you get a Quality version of any fish you catch.

How To Use Calico Koi in Palia

Being a Common fish, Calico Koi has little value in the Palia world. On the other hand, it is easy to catch, making it a convenient resource for completing quests or selling wholesale. Here’s how you can use Calico Koi in Palia:

  • First, you can sell Catch Calico for 23 or 34 Gold if you catch the Quality version.
  • Secondly, you can use this fish to cook meals.
  • You can also give Calico Koi as a gift or quest item to NPCs such as Zeki, Tau, Reth, Najuma, Jel, Elouisa, and Einar.
  • Finally, you can add Calico Koi to your aquarium as a pet.
